How We Calculate This

Metric: Fuel = Distance × (L/100km ÷ 100). Imperial: Fuel = Distance ÷ MPG. Total cost = Fuel × Price. Round trip doubles the distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my vehicle's fuel efficiency?

Check your owner's manual or the sticker on the driver's door jamb. In metric countries, look for L/100km (lower is better). In the US/UK, look for MPG (higher is better).

What is a good L/100km rating?

For cars: 6-8 L/100km is good, under 6 is excellent. SUVs: 8-10 L/100km is typical. Trucks: 10-15 L/100km is common. Hybrids can achieve 4-5 L/100km.

How can I improve my fuel efficiency?

Maintain steady speeds, avoid rapid acceleration, keep tires properly inflated, remove excess weight, use cruise control, and keep up with regular maintenance.

How do I convert between L/100km and MPG?

To convert: MPG = 235.21 ÷ L/100km. For example, 8 L/100km ≈ 29 MPG. Lower L/100km means better efficiency, while higher MPG means better efficiency.
